Medicare Open Enrollment 2025: Important Information for Patients
The Medicare Open Enrollment Period runs from October 15, 2025, through December 7, 2025. This is the only time of year (outside of special circumstances) when individuals can review their current coverage and make changes that best meet their healthcare needs.
During this period, patients and community members can:
- Join, drop, or switch to another Medicare Advantage Plan (with or without prescription drug coverage).
- Add or drop Medicare drug coverage.
- Switch from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage Plan, or return to Original Medicare from a Medicare Advantage Plan.
- If enrolled in Original Medicare, join, drop, or switch to another Medicare drug plan.
This is an excellent time for healthcare and support service providers to:
- Remind patients to review their current coverage.
- Offer resources in accessible formats.
- Share available resources to ensure equitable access to information.

To support deaf communities, we’ve created ASL video resources explaining Medicare enrollment and coverage options. These can be found in our video library and are available for providers to share: deafhealthaccess.org/updates/health-insurance/.
Created by DeafHealth with the support of the Patient Advocate Foundation and Pfizer, these videos on Medicare in American Sign Language (ASL) will give individuals the skills to make informed decisions about their coverage, the benefits offered by Medicare, and how to use insurance confidently. The videos cover different topics including Medicare Parts A, B, C, D, and Medigap Plans.
