Transcript: What’s Medicare Part B? It covers a range of healthcare services, including doctor visits and tests, mental healthcare, durable medical equipment and supplies, most preventive services, and certain outpatient prescription drugs. Your premium, or the amount you pay per month, depends on your income from your IRS tax return two years ago. You can enroll in Part B without buying Part A. There is usually 20% coinsurance for approved services. There is no limit to how much you could pay out-of-pocket for these services in a year. Original Medicare includes only Part A and Part B: hospital and medical services.
